Nepal Fair and Himalayan Festival 2008
Anthony Wieler, Chairman
of the Britain-Nepal Chamber of Commerce (www.nepal-trade.org.uk),
tells me that, at a meeting in the Embassy of Nepal last
night, Amol Gurung (himself a nepalese) as Director of
International Development at Limkokwing University, 106
Piccadilly, London W1J 7NL,
www.limkokwing.co.uk
offered the facilities of their "Global University" of
Creative Technology to His Excellency Mr Murari Raj Sharma for
a "NEPAL FAIR" to promote the Business opportunities in Nepal.
This Fair is expected to take place on 21st and 22nd September
2008 from 10.00 a m till 19.00 pm each day, and Senior
Ministers from the New Government of Nepal are expected to
attend, on their way to the UN meetings in New York.
The Bio-diversity and climatic range (from the hottest to the
coldest) could make Nepal the "garden" for the sub-continent
and beyond (Herbal medicines, fruit, flowers and other
produce) increasing the value of the horticultural surplus
that exists already.
The Hydro-Electric potential of the Himalayas is colossal, and
the geographical location, between the two fastest growing
economies of the world could be a further benefit to the 28
million hard-working population of this brave country.
The Tourist attractions
are fantastic and yet to be fully developed (www.welcomenepal.com)
Nepal has great skills in IT and communications, in Textiles,
garments and high-quality Carpets and many other sectors.
The BNCC hope that the London Chamber of Commerce, and the
European Economic Chamber (Nepal) will do all that they can to
support their initiative with the Ambassador and assist the
NEPAL FAIR with finance and advice at the early stages of the
planning and preparation for this enterprise.
Meetings and Events in
2009
Further
meetings seeking investors for businesses in Nepal will be set
up, covering such fields as Horticulture, where the
bio-diversity and climatic range of Nepal presents obvious
advantages and many other sectors from Handicrafts to I T.
A Parliamentary
Reception in Westminster is planned.
There will be another
AGM and many networking opportunities, with
presentations/promotions by BNCC's corporate members.
The Banks who are
members of BNCC will have opportunities to hold a seminar on
their Services which are offered to the Nepalese Diaspora.
The NRNs are expected
to support the BNCC with ideas and proposals for further
meetings.
